Forget about green fingers. Anyone can grow the more popular varieties and make them look attractive. Each Lightedge pack contains a “water indicator” to help you monitor the plants development. If your plants look sickly it is usually a matter of poor choice-incorrect upkeep or lack of knowledge about house plant display.

The Ten Commandments of good house plant husbandry:
  1. Don’t drown em: Roots need air as well as water. Water only when indicator shows red.
  2. Give em rest: All plants need a rest in Winter. So less watering-less feeding-less heat.
  3. Accept Loss: Flowering Plants are usually only temporary residence so don’t be disappointed when they die in a matter of weeks.
  4. Give em humidity: A centrally heated room in Winter is as dry as a desert to a house plant so spray them occasionally.
  5. Treat trouble promptly: Scale insects can be picked off easily.
  6. Group em together: Most plants look better when in a group. Learn from this site what plants make great groups.
  7. Learn to repot: After a couple of years if a plant looks sickly simply put it into a larger pot along with nutriant pebbles and water.
  8. Choose Wisely: The right location its common sense.
  9. Have the proper tools: Buy a watering can with a long narrow spout. Good compost. A worktop with drip trays-pots-plant ties-stakes-liquid fertiliser-pest killer-a soft sponge-old kitchen spoon and fork-a leaf gloss aerosol- a small pair of secateurs.
  10. Check Plants specific needs: Read tag usually attached.
